A MID-CENTURY DREAMLAND
Besides the stunning views and newly piqued interest of the desert community, Palm Springs is the mecca of mid 20th century architecture hosting the highest concentration of the style in the world. During the 40s, 50s, & 60s, Hollywood as well as East Coast elite took residence there, hiring the most avant-garde architects of the times. The design melded the inside and outside, fitting the house to the landscape instead of the other way around. No wonder the first hotel there by Frank Lloyd Wright was named The Oasis.
